[Freeswitch-users] icall's carrier service returns 480 Temporarily Unavailable for outbound INVITE

Hello all,

I'm going on the fourth day with no response from icall's support on this
issue, so I would greatly appreciate any guidance.

Freeswitch successfully registers with icalls outbound server,
sbc01-car.dal.us.icall.net, and incoming calls are handled properly. But
when I try to call a land-line with
pa call 1813968XXXX, I get a response of 480 Temporarily Unavailable. I've
also registered my external ip address with icalls servers.

Also, this works "originate sofia/internal/9996 at conference.freeswitch.org
1000", but this doesn't "originate
sofia/internal/1813968XXXX at sbc01-car.dal.us.icall.net:5060 1000."

Windows XP SP3, 32-bit, 1.5gb
FreeSWITCH Version 1.0.4 (14460)

Here's the pa call sip trace from wireshark:

I'm going to guess its because he has L16 as the first codec.

Same happens if you have g729 as first codec and you didn't ask icall to enable
g729 on US calls.

I've tried using <param name="outbound-codec-prefs" value="PCMU, PCMA"/> and
the INVITE offered only these two codecs, but I still got 480 Temporarily
Unavailable. So I just set it back to the default.

I've since found that if I set the caller id number to 1234567, the call
always goes through . If I use anything else, the call fails.
Using 1234567, I then get this remote id in the INVITE header:
Remote-Party-ID: "username"
<sip:1234567 at sbc01-car.dal.us.icall.net:5060>;party=calling;screen=yes;privacy=off
instead of:
Remote-Party-ID:
"username"<sip:813995XXXX at sbc01-car.dal.us.icall.net:5060>;party=calling;screen=yes;privacy=off

Am I formatting the caller id incorrectly?

Thanks,

Mark Dale

Do you provide a valid caller id number in invite? CID matters a lot...

GW settings are not related to global outbound settings. Did you ever study FS

What kind of firewall do you have? Clearly you have something between YOU and icall mucking with the packets.

Hello List,

Which is the best Colocation/Dedicated Service Provider for VoIP Soft
Switches.
Currently we are using Softlayer but having issues and through our
experience with them, they are not suitable for VOIP.

Please recommend good dedicated server hosting providers.

If you don't mind the yearly commitment, you could try NTT Verio. All
their servers come with 100 Mbps unmetered bandwidth.

We have been using them for some time and currently have 4 servers.
Intel E5504 Quad Core processors, 4 GB RAM, 2 SCSI HDDs in RAID. All
running great!

icall sent me this response, "We have made a modification to the interstate
route for this prefix. Please re-test when possible."
This seems to have fixed the problem.

SIP ALG is configurable on this modem, and currently it is set to disabled.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Check that Westell. I downloaded the manual and it looks like it has all
sorts of stuff that could futz with your packets. It does indeed have ALGs
but I could not specifically see a SIP ALG in the docs. However, if I were
you I absolutely would not trust that thing AT ALL. If there's any way that
that thing can give you a trace of your SIP traffic then by all means grab
it. Until you can prove otherwise, that device *IS* your problem.

This thread might be closed already but I too am having this issue... I then
started testing phone numbers and it appears that certain routes have an issue.
I called an AT&T mobile number and got a 480 but I then immediately called a
downtown Atlanta phone number and it went through no problem... I have an open
ticket with them and have updated with these findings. And I thought this was
my problem for the longest time... Hmmmm...
Thanks,
Perry

Disable no-sense for PSTN termination codec L16, make PCMU primary.

Hello all,
I'm going on the fourth day with no response from icall's support on this
issue, so I would greatly appreciate any guidance.
Freeswitch successfully registers with icalls outbound server,
sbc01-car.dal.us.icall.net, and incoming calls are handled properly. But
when I try to call a land-line with
pa call 1813968XXXX, I get a response of 480 Temporarily Unavailable. I've
also registered my external ip address with icalls servers.
Also, this works "originate sofia/internal/9996 at conference.freeswitch.org
1000", but this doesn't "originate
sofia/internal/1813968XXXX at sbc01-car.dal.us.icall.net:5060 1000."
